T2202 FAQs

A T2202 is a tax form that allows students registered in qualifying educational programs to claim eligible tuition amounts paid when completing their personal taxes.

A T4A is a tax form issued for certain types of income. You will receive a T4A from if you have received a scholarship, award or bursary from OC.

To access your T2202, log in to your account, and under the Student tab, go to:

Self-Service > Student > Canadian Tax Forms.

You can view your T2202 or print it. You can also find your T4A in the same place if if you received a scholarship, award or bursary from OC.

Contact the IT Helpdesk directly for assistance to login or change your password.

T2202s and T4As are made available by the end of February at the latest, for the preceding calendar year (also called the tax year). For example, by February 28, 2025 for the 2024 tax year.

You will not have a T2202 if:

  • The course you enrolled in didn’t start in the applicable tax year – the T2202 tax form is based on the calendar year, not on the tuition payment date.
  • You did not pay more than $100 in eligible education fees.
  • Your study period did not meet the required minimum length.
  • The course does not qualify for a tuition tax credit.
    • ESL and Academic Upgrading are not considered post-secondary level.
    • Continuing Education may not qualify if the course does not lead to a certificate or degree.

The total amount of tuition and fees paid may not match your T2202 because not all tuition and fees are eligible for a tax credit. For example, your student union fee is not an eligible fee.

Keep in mind the T2202 is based on the calendar year (January – December) and not the academic year (September – August) that the courses were taken.

If you do not securely submit your SIN, your T2202 form will include “999999999” in this field. Providing the correct SIN will help you claim your tuition tax credit, so it’s in your best interest to do so. If you don't provide your SIN, you may also incur a $100 penalty (section 237 of the Income Tax Act).

Yes, a T2202 is produced for all students at who are registered in eligible program or courses.
